Malaysia will strengthen its national social insurance system as the country faces the challenges of aging nations by 2030, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on May 31, Malay Mail reported.
He said he held a special meeting with relevant officials to discuss strengthening social insurance programs to prepare for the risks that older people will face by 2030.
Among them, Anwar highlighted poverty, health problems, lack of pension savings and declining productivity, which could have critical consequences for the country’s financial prospects.
Recall that during the quarantine restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the government several times gave citizens their own pension savings so that they could survive in difficult living situations caused by quarantines and the collapse of their homes caused by seasonal flooding.
