The German federal government has allowed Ukraine to use German weapons for attacks on Russian territory bordering the Kharkov region, German public broadcaster ZDF reported on May 31, citing a statement by German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit.
According to the politician, Ukraine is under strong pressure from the Russian army in the Kharkov region from positions located very close to the Russian border.
“Together we are convinced that, under international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself against these attacks.””, the TV channel quotes Hebestreit.
According to ZDF, there are several weapons supplied from Germany that could theoretically be used to attack Russian army positions from the border area, for example the PzH 2000 self-propelled guns and the MLRS MARS-II.
