
Ghanaian authorities intend to attract investment from India to develop the oil and gas sector, Ghana’s Deputy Energy Minister William Owuraku Aidu said after meeting with Indian Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. , at India Energy Week on February 8, Reuters reports.
Ghana has reportedly asked India to consider exploring three blocks in the western basin and building refineries to boost the development of the oil and gas sector.
“There are some opportunities in Ghana, especially in the oil and gas field. We have several oil blocks available and we came here hoping to attract Indian investment.” said Ghana’s energy minister.
He stressed that Ghana will grant exploration licenses through direct negotiations if Indian companies are interested in his offer.
“We have space for three of them… we want to build an oil hub”added.
Recall that on February 12, 2020, the Norwegian oil company Aker Energy signed a contract to study the Ghana platform.
