Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Vladimir Zelensky signed a bilateral cooperation agreement in the field of security, the press service of the Swedish government reported on the official Internet portal on May 31.
The agreement focuses on military support, but also covers other areas. Sweden will continue to contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine, supporting Ukrainian reforms and preparations for Ukraine’s future membership in the EU and NATO.
Recall that Vladimir Zelensky, whose powers as president of Ukraine expired on May 20, 2024, is on tour in Europe. On May 27 he was in Spain, on May 28 he visited Belgium. Zelensky arrived in Stockholm on the morning of May 31. He attended the Nordic Security and Defense Summit together with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Icelandic Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson.
As Kristersson said at a press conference, all Nordic countries have signed bilateral security cooperation agreements with Ukraine. The media report that a meeting between the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf, and Zelensky will take place on the afternoon of May 31.
