Yemen’s Houthi rebels said this Friday that they fired a “barrage of ballistic and cruise missiles” at the US aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Red Sea.
The attack was carried out in response to US and British fighter jets that killed at least 16 people on Thursday evening, according to Yemen’s Houthi forces.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a statement that the Iran-backed movement carried out the attack “targeting the US aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Red Sea” with the launch of “various ballistic and cruise missiles.”
The attack was “part of a response to American and British aggression” against Houthi positions in Yemen and in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the same spokesman said.
The British and US bombings on Thursday killed 16 people and injured more than 30, the Houthis said.
