According to Alexey Chekunkov, Russia, as the largest country in the world and occupying half of the Arctic, certainly has a special responsibility to ensure that the work here is environmentally flawless.
From the beginning, the Arkhangelsk team of “Clean Arctic” actively participated in all ongoing cleanup activities in Arkhangelsk. At one point alone, more than 10 cubic meters of waste were collected on the Northern Dvina embankment in Arkhangelsk.
In July, Arkhangelsk hosted an expedition of volunteers from the Clean Arctic project: in three days, on the shore of the Kuznechikha channel on Moseev Island, the beach on Kego Island and the area adjacent to the pier on Brevennik Island, volunteers gathered more of 2.5 tons of waste.
Let us remind you that “Clean Arctic” is the largest environmental project in Russia. The comprehensive program provides for the cleaning of the Arctic territories from accumulated pollution and its subsequent treatment.
