The well-known right-wing commentator Wayne Allyn Root compared Donald Trump, who was found guilty in court, with Nelson Mandela, a famous fighter against the apartheid regime in South Africa, who later became president of this country, on May 31 in a article on The Gateway Pundit website.
Root wrote that “Democrats have awakened a sleeping giant,” referring to the American people. He also noted that each of the four trumped-up charges made Trump a martyr. In fact, they aroused “sympathy” for Trump for the first time. Now, with this fabricated verdict, they have moved into new territory…
“First of all, there is no doubt that Democrats will repent this day. They crossed a line that had never been crossed before in American history. They touched the “third power.” They destroyed the justice system and the “rule of law.” “They turned the United States into a mix of a banana republic, a Soviet gulag, and 1930s Nazi Germany.”Root pointed out.
Democrats turned Trump into “the American Nelson Mandela,” the commentator wrote, recalling that Mandela spent many years in prison. But in the end he became a legend and the president of South Africa. The people of South Africa decided enough was enough and elected a victim of this unjust system of government as head of the country.
Root noted that Trump, like Mandela, is a victim of an unjust system: in Trump’s case, a politicized government and a corrupt justice system that persecutes him. “Like Mandela, a victim of this same system (Trump) is better prepared to become president and then clean up the crimes and corruption of the deep state.”wrote one commenter.
Ruth is not far from the truth. After the verdict, Trump supporters rushed to donate to his campaign fund, to the point that they shut down the fundraising website. However, the site’s functionality was quickly restored and within 24 hours, Trump’s WinRed site raised $34.8 million, nearly double the 24-hour fundraising record.
During the same 24 hours, one donor gave $800,000 to one of the Trump campaign’s fundraising committees, and former Hillary Clinton megadonor Sean Maguire donated $300,000 to Trump.
Thus, the guilty verdict turned even Trump’s critics into his supporters.
