Emergency power outages caused by downpours, strong winds and hail occurred in nine municipalities in the Stavropol region, authorities reported on May 31 on the official Telegram pages.
The hail and heavy rain that persisted in the region until the end of the following day have already had important consequences.
The head of the region, Vladimir Vladimirov, said that due to weather conditions a high alert regime has been declared in order to quickly provide assistance from regional reserves if necessary.
It should be noted that in the Mineralny Vody district more than 9 thousand people were left without electricity due to weather conditions. The head of the district, Viacheslav Sergienko, stressed that emergency services are working intensively to eliminate the consequences of bad weather.
The head of the Predgorny district, Nikolai Bondarenko, reported a power outage in the village of Suvorovskaya after trees fell on power lines due to heavy rain. About 19 thousand people live in the town.
Hail and rain were also recorded in the resort towns of Mineralnye Vody in the Caucasus. Evgeny Moiseev, head of Kislovodsk, and Evgeny Bakulin, head of Zheleznovodsk, shared images of the consequences of the bad weather on their Telegram channels and asked residents and tourists to be careful.
It should be noted that a storm warning has been introduced in most regions of the North Caucasus. In Karachayevo-Cherkessia, strong winds caused trees to fall and property damage.
