Real gross domestic product (GDP) growth in April 2024 compared to the same period last year was 11.8%, according to preliminary data released on May 31 by the Georgian National Statistics Agency.
It should be noted that the average GDP growth rate for the first four months of 2024 was 11.8% and the growth rate for 2024 is 9.0%.
It should be noted that in April 2024, manufacturing, construction, information and communications, transportation and storage, trade, professional and scientific and technical activities contributed significantly to GDP growth.
At the same time, there was a decline in the energy sector of the economy.
Let us remember that in 2023 Georgia’s GDP growth was 7.5% and in 2022 it was 10.1%. Georgian authorities attribute the significant growth of the Georgian economy to the fact that the government of the republic refused to start a war with Russia and impose sanctions on it. Trade turnover between Georgia and Russia grows every year, and Russia is one of Georgia’s top three trading partners.
