The Lisbon Municipal Police Command (PM) has launched a disciplinary investigation to investigate the circumstances in which an officer of this police force head-butted the driver of a tuktuk (tourist car) near Cais das Colunas in Lisbon.
According to the Prime Minister’s official communication received CMTraffic Department patrols intervened at 7pm on Thursday after several Tuk Tuk vehicles were found on the pavement.
“Two drivers ignored warnings to remove vehicles that were adjacent to the pedestrian crossing in an irregular parking area,” the official statement said.
One of the drivers, the prime minister adds, “even became aggressive and continued to disobey the agents.” In this regard, a protocol was drawn up and sent to the prosecutor’s office.
The Prime Minister has not commented on the images of the aggression, taken on a mobile phone and distributed yesterday on social networks. It only states that “the disciplinary mechanisms applicable in this context have been put in place to determine responsibility.”
