The number of tourists’ refusals to travel abroad may increase, said Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Artur Muradyan, as reported on May 31 on the official ATOR website.
Muradyan said the number of foreign passports that have various types of errors is growing. In particular, the use of the letter “ё” is found in documents, and the use of Soviet names of settlements is also frequent.
“This problem is avalanche in nature. Today in Pulkovo they “cristically” let through a passenger whose place of birth was indicated as “Leningrad Region” without details (as in an internal passport, where the locality is also registered).””Muradyan noted.
He added that people born before 1991 may have problems at passport control due to the different spellings of the same locality.
I will now check the passports more carefully, so citizens are advised to carefully check both passports and, if inaccuracies are identified, contact the local authorities of the Ministry of the Interior.
Let us remind you that since December 11, the rules for traveling abroad have changed in Russia. The list of reasons for which a foreign passport can be invalidated has been expanded. In particular, if a person was deprived of citizenship of the Russian Federation or his full name changed. In addition, foreign passports began to be confiscated from people who were called up for military service.
