According to the Catalan traffic service, there is a 5.5-kilometer queue on the A-2, with the road closed at Fornells de la Selva, also towards French territory.
Protesters plan to block several crossings between the two countries along the Pyrenees as part of the European elections.
Farmers are demanding measures to apply regulations to products imported from countries outside the European Union, or the abolition of taxes applied to energy consumption during agricultural activities.
The demonstration, led in Catalonia by the Reulta Pagesa platform in the absence of the Unió de Pagesos trade union, which constitutes a majority in this autonomous community but chose not to interfere in the election campaign, is scheduled to start at 10:00 (09:00). 00 in Lisbon) and lasts 24 hours.
