According to a statement sent to Lusa, the Angolan Council of Ministers approved this Monday the adjustment of pensions paid to former combatants, war veterans and their families in line with inflation.
The approved diploma adjusts pensions assigned under a special regime to former combatants and war veterans, “as well as family members of deceased or killed combatants, taking into account the update of the salaries of civil servants, in accordance with expected inflation,” according to the approved diploma. Last week, Angola’s chief executive reached an agreement with unions on a phased update of civil servants’ salaries until 2027.
The Council of Ministers also approved the National Strategy for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption, through which it intends to “continue to reduce corruption” by promoting greater integrity, transparency and improved service delivery across all sectors.
It also approved the transformation of the Angolan Development Bank, a government entity of the EP whose purpose is to finance the national economy, into a limited liability company with exclusively public capital, which will be regulated by the law on commercial companies.
“The transformation of the Development Bank of Angola into a commercial limited liability company is an action that fits into the public sector business reform roadmap and is based on the need to create a management and corporate governance model that guarantees greater profitability and efficiency. .
Diplomas related to oil blocks were also approved.
In the cultural sector, it was decided to merge the Angola Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (IACA) and the National Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries (INIC), which will give way to the National Agency for Cultural and Creative Industries.
The new institution will “regulate, monitor and control national policies for the promotion, support and development of these industries, particularly books, records and crafts, and to promote the reading and publication of works the nature of which is found to be cultural.” and has a large social reach, and also has a mission to develop and implement a government strategy regarding cinematographic and audiovisual activities.”
As part of foreign policy, a number of bilateral cooperation instruments and a partnership agreement between the European Union and members of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States were also approved.
