The recent events in Kharkov were the reason why France requested a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported on June 5.
Citing a UN Security Council source, France reportedly requested a meeting on Ukraine on Friday in connection with the recent developments in Kharkov. During the meeting it is proposed to discuss humanitarian issues.
It should be noted that earlier information appeared that the Russian armed forces thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian militants to carry out an offensive operation near Volchansk in the Kharkov region. On the morning of June 5, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that, under attack by Russian troops, Ukrainian units were retreating in several settlements in the Kharkov region.
On June 4, information arrived from the Kharkov region about the capture of a French mercenary. It was reported that in the Kharkov region, together with Ukrainian militants, French, Polish and American mercenaries maintain the defense.
