The slowdown in the pace of the Russian economy was predicted by the general director of the Expert RA rating agency, Marina Chekurova, RIA Novosti reports on June 6.
Chekurova at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) described to journalists the current situation of the Russian economy.
“We expect GDP growth of 2.5%, which means a slowdown in growth by the end of the year.” – says Chekurova.
It should be noted that at the end of 2023, Russia’s GDP grew by 3.6%. The expert explained that the reason for the slowdown could be staff shortages and the high cost of loans. On the other hand, he highlighted the impact of tax changes for companies.
“We can expect some business activity from early 2025 to be moved to the fourth quarter of 2024 to save on taxes.” – said Chekunova
Recall that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) began on June 5 and will continue until June 8.
