The basic exercise was conducted by the Bastion coastal missile complex (BRK) division of the Chukotka Coastal Defense Regiment of the Red Banner troops and forces in northeastern Russia, the Chukotka news agency reports on June 6.
On the eve, the combat teams of the DBK “Bastion” in a state of alert prepared weapons and military equipment for the march from the place of permanent deployment to the determined area. The equipment column consisted of a starting battery and a control battery, as well as a cover and defense unit to repel an attack by “enemy” sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
According to the press service of the Pacific Fleet, within the framework of training to detect and destroy a ship of the mock enemy, Chukotka missiles carried out electronic missile launches against a sea target in the Pacific Ocean. That is, an algorithm of actions was developed to destroy a target when simulated on special equipment. The launches were carried out from the Kamchatka Territory.
Recall “Bastion”, a coastal missile system with the P-800 “Onyx” / “Yakhont” anti-ship missile.
Designed to destroy surface ships of various classes and types of amphibious formations, convoys, ship and aircraft carrier strike groups, as well as individual ships and radio contrast ground targets in conditions of intense fire and electronic countermeasures.
The Bastion ballistic missile launcher is one of the carriers of the Onyx missile, which, in turn, together with the Caliber and Kh-35 Uran missile systems and the promising Zircon hypersonic anti-ship missile, is the main anti-ship missile weapon in the Russian Armed Forces.
