The restoration of operation of any of the Russian airports that have been closed since February 2022 is not expected in the near future, said the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Dmitry Yadrov, on June 6 in an interview with the channel NTV.
Since the beginning of February 2022, most airports in southern and central Russia remain closed. The only exception was the Elista air terminal, which recently resumed operations. However, according to Yadrov, the resumption of work at the remaining airports is not yet expected.
“This work is being carried out in conjunction with the Ministry of Defense: by their decision an appropriate temporary regime was introduced (airport operations – approx. IA Krasnaya Vesna). We are in constant dialogue and contact. So far the opening of other airports (except Elista) is not expected.»stated the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency.
However, the first flights to Elista are in high demand among passengers. According to Yadrov, the planes are almost 100% loaded.
Recall that civil flights at Elista airport resumed on May 28. All other airports that were closed for security reasons on February 24, 2022 (in Simferopol, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh) remain closed.
