Will it be a violation of the law for athletes from Russia to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games? Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko explained on June 6 in an interview with Interfax.
The use of national symbols during the Paris Olympic Games, as well as the participation of Russian athletes in team competitions, would be a violation of the law. Thanks to this, Chernyshenko stated that our professionals can meet all these requirements.
“Russian athletes will be able to participate in the Paris Olympics without fear of breaking the law. All-Russian sports federations made independent decisions on participation in the Games and their selection. “As a result, our athletes and Belarusians will be able to compete at the Olympic Games individually and in a neutral state.”said the politician.
To date, Russia has received 49 licenses to participate in the Olympic Games: road cycling, taekwondo, tennis, trampoline, kayaking and canoeing, wrestling and judo.
Recall that the IOC has put forward a number of requirements for participants in the 2024 Olympic Games. Among them are a negative attitude towards Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and the lack of ties with security forces.
