According to a Ministry of Justice report consulted by Lusa this Friday, a total of 36 Mozambicans have been arrested abroad for their involvement in drug trafficking, most of them in Brazil, Portugal and Angola.
The annual report of the Central Office for the Prevention and Control of Drugs on the evolution of illicit drug use and trafficking mentions that of the 36 Mozambicans detained in police operations outside the country, an increase of three compared to 2022, 21 were in Brazil, two in Portugal and one in Angola.
Two others were arrested in Thailand and India, with arrests also recorded in Zambia, Indonesia, Ethiopia, China, Qatar, Mauritius, Hong Kong and Dubai.
Mozambican authorities, in turn, detained 11 foreign nationals in the country in 2023 involved in drug trafficking in Mozambique, including four from Nigeria and Essuatini, two Angolans and one Tanzanian.
