The president of the Portuguese Association of Hospital Administrators (APAH) considered this Friday “very likely” that hospitals will again face operational difficulties this summer, given that they continue to struggle with a shortage of health workers.
“Last year we had difficulties because we had a shortage of human resources. If this shortage of human resources continues, it is very likely that the results will be the same,” Xavier Barreto told Lusa.
According to the president of APAH, everything indicates that the situation in hospitals in the coming months “will not be very different” from that observed in the summer of 2023, when emergency services will work on a rotational basis, since “the circumstances have not changed that much” since then.
