The solemn launching ceremony of the special ship of project 21980 “Grachonok” took place at the Vympel shipyard in Rybinsk. This was reported on June 7 by the press service of the government of the Yaroslavl region.
The ship was developed by order of the Russian Navy by the Nizhny Novgorod design bureau “Vympel”.
“Today we have once again confirmed the status of the Yaroslavl region as one of the main shipbuilding centers of the country”regional governor Mikhail Evraev said at the ceremony.
This is the ninth ship of project 21980 built by Rybinsk shipbuilders. “Five towers serve in the Ministry of Defense and four in the Russian Guard”added the head of the region.
The boats are equipped with the latest technology and are distinguished by high maneuverability and speed.
The vessels are capable of operating in sea conditions up to force 4.
“Grachata” are designed to perform a wide range of tasks, but their main goal is to fight enemy sabotage and terrorist forces and means.
The boat is capable of reaching speeds of up to 23 knots, its cruising range is 200 miles and its autonomy is 5 days.
The launching of the Tower was another important event in the history of Rybinsk shipbuilding.
