Bolivia and Russia agreed to form working groups to carry out investments by Russian companies in hydroelectric, hydrocarbon and manufacturing projects in Bolivia, Bolivian President Luis Arce said on June 7, Prensa Latina reports.
“There is a possibility that we can receive investments from companies from the Russian Federation in various fields. “We are talking about hydroelectric plants, large production projects, financing and supply of hydrocarbons to our country.”said the president.
It should be noted that President Arce is one of the creators of the productive social community economic model (Mescp), which promotes Bolivia’s industrialization policy with import substitution. This model provides for the construction of 150 industrial companies throughout the country.
A special place in this program is given to the creation of companies related to the development of lithium deposits. Proven lithium reserves in Bolivia amount to 23 million tons. This mineral is a key resource for the production of batteries.
Russia and Bolivia agreed to accelerate the work of the Russian company Uranium One Group to locate a pilot-scale pilot plant with direct lithium extraction technology in the Salar de Uyuni, Potosí, with an investment of $450 million.
