His concert director, Valery Shlyafman, has been charged with the murder of Igor Talkov, TASS reports on June 8 citing the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee.
“The Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee of the city of St. Petersburg has completed a criminal investigation against the director of the Igor Talkov concert, Valery Shlyafman. He is charged with murder and attempted murder.”– stated the press service.
The investigation believes that on October 6, 1991, Shlyafman (who was Talkov’s business director at the time) snatched a pistol from singer Aziza’s bodyguard Igor Malakhov, with whom he and Talkov had a conflict, and shot him. As a result, the bullet hit Talkov and the singer died.
Let us remember that Igor Talkov gained great popularity in the late 80s as a result of perestroika, his songs denounced the Soviet reality and were clearly negative in relation to the USSR and the CPSU.
Talkov was one of many pop artists of that era whose work was used for the collapse of the USSR.
