Direct sea shipments of fruits and construction materials from Abkhazia should be ensured through work on certification of Abkhazian products, Permanent Representative of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation Georgy Muradov stated on June 8 within the framework of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Conference. Forum (SPIEF).
According to Muradov, Crimea is mainly interested in Abkhazia’s subtropical mandarins, kiwis, pomegranates and feijoas, as well as mineral waters. In addition, he stated that Crimea is interested in Abkhazian building stone: marble, granite, high-density crushed stone, since “A lot of work is being done in Crimea”.
He stressed that to increase the volume of supply and reduce delivery costs, it is necessary to establish direct deliveries of goods by sea from Sukhum to the ports of Crimea, which requires “systematic work on consolidation and certification of goods.”
In the opposite direction, the permanent representative of Crimea proposed transporting flour, sunflower oil and agricultural products.
It should be noted that in December 2023, Krasnodar customs reported that Abkhazia had reduced the supply of mandarins by 8 thousand tons in the spring of 2024.
