In the Azores, polling stations open and close an hour later than Lisbon time due to time differences.
More than 10.8 million registered voters in Portugal and abroad are heading to the polls this Sunday to choose 21 of the 720 MEPs in the European Parliament.
For the first time, you can vote outside of a regular polling station by simply presenting an official ID with a current photo at any polling station.
In this election, for which more than 252,000 voters registered in advance last Sunday, 17 parties and coalitions are competing in Portugal.
In 2019, in the previous European elections, Portugal recorded its worst abstention rate (68.6%) since joining the European Union, in contrast to participation in Europe at around 50%.
