According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), five areas in the north and center of the country are under a yellow warning this Sunday due to the forecast of rainfall and thunderstorms.
A warning has been issued for the areas of Vila Real, Bragança, Viseu, Guarda and Castelo Branco this Sunday from 12:00 to 21:00, where “heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms are expected at times.”
The IPMA also indicates that the forecast for thunderstorms across the five counties during the afternoon and early evening this Sunday will be “frequent and scattered.”
A yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
For the rest of the country, the IPMA indicates “heavy cloudiness until late morning with periods of light rain or drizzle in some places”, light winds and a slight increase in maximum temperatures in the northern region.
For the Lisbon and Porto regions in particular, the forecast generally calls for very cloudy weather, with open skies in the afternoon and possible spells of light rain or drizzle.
The maximum temperature will range from 27° in Braga to 20°, and the minimum from 18° to 13°.
