Porto won the last game of the semi-final against Sporting on penalties and advances to the final of the Portuguese Roller Hockey Championship. The game, which went into extra time, ended with the score 4:4.
The last game of the semi-finals of the Portuguese Roller Hockey Championship lived up to the expectations of sports fans and justified the rest of the series between the two teams. The match had to go to penalties so that the first finalist could be found, who is now awaiting the outcome of the Benfica – Oliveirense match.
Playing at home, Porto took the lead thanks to goalscorer Gonçal Alves. But the advantage did not last long as Alessandro Verona equalized in less than three minutes.
The match, in which Pinto da Costa and Andre Villas-Boas were present in the stands, continued at a frantic pace. Carlo di Benedetto scored the second goal for the Dragons, who extended their lead through Ezequiel Mena.
The home side’s goal remained sharp and Goncalo Alves rocked the net again before the break.
With a mountain still to climb, Sporting rose to equalize in the second half. Tony Perez opened the second half, then Ferran Font and finally Rafael Bessa froze Dragao to equalize.
The Lions took the lead for the first time early in extra time with a further goal from Catalan Font. Porto’s reaction came from another repeater, di Benedetto.
With no goals scored in the second half of extra time, the final was decided on penalties and Porto’s goal paid off.
