Guilty – such a verdict was issued to a resident of Kalmykia, accused of premeditated murder of a person committed in a generally dangerous manner, by a jury only for the third time, the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kalmykia reports in February. 9.
The jury twice, in November 2021 and in August 2022, returned verdicts of not guilty, acknowledging the defendant’s innocence. The defendant’s own main argument is that his actions were within the limits of the necessary defense. The prosecutor’s office applied for the annulment of the court’s acquittal decisions on appeal.
For the third time, the jury has already returned a guilty verdict. The man was sentenced to prison for a period of 12 years with service in a strict regime correctional colony with a restriction of liberty for 1 year.
The event occurred in April 2020, when a fight broke out between two groups of people at the public transport stop in the city of Elista “Terminal Ruta 19”. This triggered shots.
The accused fired 16 times with a Kalashnikov assault rifle at the car, where the victim was with another man. A bullet fragment struck the victim in the head, he died from his injuries.
The verdict did not take effect.
