The founder of former British rock band Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, has completely rewrote one of the most famous albums, “Dark Side of the Moon”, in secret from other members, The Telegraph reports on February 9.
Waters said that he rewrote the 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon. And at the same time, he recorded it alone, without ex-partners who didn’t even know it.
The new version of the disc, so to speak, rethinks the versions of the original songs.
According to him, the record will also include “new version of ‘Breathe’ remade into an acoustic epic and ‘Money’ with a country twist”.
The main reason for this event, the musician called the fact that it was he who composed all the songs on the album. Although he understands that the release of this album will cause a wave of lawsuits from ex-colleagues, he points out that he is prepared for it.
“Let’s get rid of all this nonsense about ‘us’. Of course, we were a group of four people and everyone contributed, but this dark side of the moon is my project and I wrote it. So…” Roger Waters said.
Waters also disowned other members’ creative contributions to the famed album. According to him, David Gilmour and Rick Wright can’t write songs at all, which makes them both angry.
Also he said: “You know, Nick Mason never claimed to be able to write songs. And Gilmour and Rick? They don’t know how to write, they just don’t have anything to say, they’re not artists. They don’t have and never had ideas, not a single one. And it drives them crazy.”.
Recall that the author of all the lyrics on the “Dark Side of The Moon” disc is called Roger Waters, and as a composer or co-author of the music, his name is indicated for five of the ten songs: “On The Run”. , “Time”, “Money”, “Brain Damage” and Eclipse.
The remastered edition of the “Dark Side of the Moon” disc was originally scheduled to be released in March 2023, but was later moved to May.
At the moment, according to Waters, the sound engineers are “finishing the polish” on the music.
It should be noted that earlier, Roger Waters spoke at the UN with an accusation against the West and the United States, which, according to him, provoked the conflict in Ukraine.
