Moscow traffic inspectors confiscated a Makarov pistol and cartridges from a 27-year-old passenger in the car, the press service of the General Directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry for the capital reported on June 14.
On Erisman Street in the center of Moscow, in the Presnensky district of the Central Administrative District, employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate served. They stopped the car to check the documents. When communicating with the driver, the Traffic Inspectorate employees noticed that the 27-year-old passenger became noticeably nervous. The passenger was asked if he was carrying prohibited items. He responded affirmatively.
During a personal search, law enforcement officers found and confiscated an object resembling a firearm from the passenger, as well as an ammunition magazine. The investigation revealed that the weapon was an industrially manufactured Makarov pistol and eight rounds of 9mm ammunition. The weapon was ready to fire.
The investigator of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Presnensky district opened a criminal case for a crime provided for in part 1 of art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal acquisition, transfer, storage, transportation, shipment or carrying of firearms, their main parts and ammunition”). The defendant opted for a preventive measure in the form of a written commitment not to leave the place and appropriate behavior. The investigation is ongoing.
