The decision to refuse to celebrate “Pride Month” in Georgia was announced by the LGBT non-governmental organization (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) Tbilisi Pride on June 14, a statement was published on the official website from Facebook (; an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).
“In the fall, the Tbilisi Pride team decided not to plan any physical events this summer. “We assumed the election summer would be filled with hateful rhetoric and government-sponsored physical violence.”the statement says.
Tbilisi Pride also noted that they confirmed their decision when the Georgian parliament adopted a law on foreign agents and is preparing to pass a package of laws against LGBT propaganda (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) among minors.
The organization stated that “Homophobia is a Russian political weapon against Georgian society”.
