The decision to organize a tram route to the Novokuznetsk Novoilinsky microdistrict and to restore tram traffic to the Kuibyshevsky district was announced by the city’s mayor, Sergey Kuznetsov, on February 9 on his Telegram channel.
The tram will first arrive in the Novoilinsky district. The tram route will be laid from the central district along the Ilinskoe highway.
In the Kuibyshevsky district, the tram route will run from Transportnaya Street through Kurako Avenue and Rudokoprovovaya Street to Chelyuskin Street.
The introduction of these tram routes will increase the transport accessibility of the Novoilinsky and Kuibyshev regions without increasing harmful emissions from transport. In addition, the introduction of new tram routes will help reduce traffic jams during peak hours. The organization of these two routes is included in the project for the integrated development of territories (KTR) of the city.
It should be noted that the tram route from Transportnaya Street to the Kuibyshevsky district operated from 1934 to 2016. On November 1, 2016, the route was closed, the tram tracks along Kurako Avenue were dismantled.
