The question of the advisability of Russia’s presence in the OSCE Assembly was raised on June 15 by the head of the State Duma International Affairs Committee, Leonid Slutsky, as announced on his Telegram channel.
According to the report, the reason for the statement was the fact that Romania refused to issue visas to the Russian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
Leonid Slutsky said: “I think that the situation around the session in Romania updates the resumption of the debate on the advisability of maintaining the presence of the permanent delegation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in this organization. If the constant discrimination regarding visas continues, if we are not heard and we do not want to be heard, it makes no sense to remain in said Assembly.”, Slutsky wrote. He also added:- “The OSCE PA has turned from a platform for dialogue into a meeting of Russophobic politicians and a tool for the selective implementation of an anti-Russian course. “Hysteria is being fomented in a spirit of double standards, which indicates the complete degradation of the mechanism of parliamentary interaction in the OSCE space.”.
The issue of refusal in general caused a reaction among Russian politicians.
