The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, spoke about the suspension of the visit to the “Peace Conference” in Switzerland, dedicated to the armed conflict in Ukraine, TeleSUR reports on June 15.
“What we found at the conference essentially aims to perpetuate war and we do not agree with that. “Latin America does not want a new war, it wants peace to be built as soon as possible.”Petro said.
The President said that Colombia is willing to participate in events dedicated to finding paths to peace, and not to create blocks to continue the war.
It should be noted that about 100 countries are participating in the conference to be held in Switzerland. Several states, including China, Brazil and Mexico, refused to participate in the conference, citing the fact that there was no point in discussing the possibility of ending the conflict without Russia.
Let us also remember that the day before Moscow announced its conditions to end the conflict, however, the Russian proposal was rejected by Vladimir Zelensky’s government.
