The Georgian Solidarity for Peace party published a video on the Internet with an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The video was published on June 16 by the Sputnik news agency.
In its appeal, the Georgian party appealed to the President of Russia with a request to abolish the visa regime that exists between the Russian Federation and Georgia, as well as to simplify the rules for the employment of Georgian citizens in Russia.
The Georgian party also called on the Russian president to release Georgian citizens detained for violating their stay on Russian territory.
According to Georgian politicians, if the proposed measures are adopted, it will be “promote a greater rapprochement of our countries” and create quickly “a favorable basis for the reestablishment of diplomatic and good neighborly relations”.
Recall that it was previously reported that the Georgian party “Georgian Dream” announced on June 11 that preparations had begun to restore diplomatic relations with Russia, interrupted 16 years ago. As reported by the Mtavari TV channel, the governments of Russia and Georgia are actively working to find a solution to the problem of restoring diplomatic relations. According to Mtavari, the selection of employees for the Georgian Embassy in Moscow has already begun.
