The criminals who were holding hostages in the Rostov-on-Don pre-trial detention center were neutralized. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service on June 16.
Information from the department indicates that “During the special operation to release the hostages in the pre-trial detention center No. 1 of the General Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Rostov region, the criminals were eliminated, the employees who were held hostage were released and were not injured.”
According to the department, in the morning at the Rostov pre-trial detention center, several prisoners took two employees hostage.
As Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Human Rights Council, clarified, one of the hostages is the head of the operational department of the Rostov headquarters of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Alexander Bogma. The other is the warden.
The agency source also said that the criminals were armed with fire axes and rubber batons. They demanded transportation and the opportunity to leave the detention center.
Three of the invaders are from Ingushetia and Chechnya. They are serving sentences for preparing a terrorist attack in Karachay-Cherkessia: Akiev and Gireev were sentenced to 18 years in prison, Tsitskiev to 18.5 years. According to another source, the group of invaders also includes the prisoners Saipudinov and Kamneev.
A criminal case has been initiated for hostage taking (Article 206 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
