At least six people, including two children, were injured in a shooting at a park in Round Rock, Texas, on Saturday evening, hours after another shooting at a park in Detroit, Michigan, left at least At least one person was killed and ten were injured.
“We are investigating a shooting involving multiple victims that occurred this evening at Old Settlers Park. We do not have any suspects in custody, but we are looking for the perpetrator or perpetrators,” Rick White of the local police department told CNN.
Emergency medical crews immediately transported six people to local trauma centers.
“All with potentially serious injuries,” an Austin-Travis County spokesman said.
North American Television, which did not give a reason for the shooting, indicated that a festival was planned for Saturday night at Old Settlers Park, as announced on the Round Rock Department of Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
Round Rock is about 20 miles north of Austin.
The shooting happened around the same time as another in a park north of Detroit, Michigan, where at least ten people were injured.
The alleged shooter committed suicide, according to county officials.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. local time at a water park in Rochester Hills, north of Detroit, when a man exited a vehicle and began shooting indiscriminately into the crowd with a 9mm handgun.
There were minors in the park and at least one of the wounded was an 8-year-old boy, police said, adding that at least 28 shots were fired and three magazines were found.
