Iran’s acting president Mohammad Mokhber emphasized the need for joint efforts with Pakistan to increase bilateral trade, IRNA reported on June 16.
He noted that it is necessary to increase the volume of trade to 10 billion dollars (890 billion rubles): this was the goal set by the governments of the two countries during the trip of the late Iranian president, Ibrahim Raisi, to Islamabad at the beginning of 2024.
Mokhber said this during a telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Mokhber also mentioned a major gas pipeline project between the two countries, and urged the Pakistani side to continue the project. He declared Iran’s readiness to help remove existing obstacles.
Mokhber added that the Islamic Republic of Iran views Pakistan as a strategic partner and that the authorities of both countries are committed to developing relations in the political, economic and cultural fields, taking advantage of all available opportunities.
