In the investigative department of the Interregional Investigation Department of Western Transport (MSUT) of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the press service of the MSUT reports on June 17 on its Telegram channel.
“In connection with the seaplane accident, a criminal case has been initiated for a crime provided for in part 2 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport, resulting in the death of a person due to negligence)”the department said in a statement.
Law enforcement officials reported that, according to preliminary data, the Orion-11 seaplane was piloted by a man born in 1978.
The vehicle made an unauthorized takeoff in the area of the Tik-Guba urban district of the city of Apatity, Murmansk region. According to the department, there were no passengers aboard the seaplane.
Recall that on June 17, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported about a seaplane accident on Lake Imandra. The department also said divers are investigating the crash site.
It should be noted that on June 17, the General Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Murmansk Region reported that the pilot of the seaplane died and his body was washed ashore.
