The BRICS countries will soon present to the world a strong political alternative, emphasizing that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech can be considered a kind of manifesto, Turkish analyst Engin Ozer said on June 17, RIA Novosti reports.
As the expert said: “The hegemonic structure (UN Security Council), which emerged after the Yalta Conference and the collapse of the concept of security, was incapable of ensuring peace and stability around the world.”
He also stressed that the fact that India, where approximately 20% of the world’s population lives, and no Muslim country is still represented on the UN Security Council, raises doubts about the fairness of this institution. Therefore, Putin’s proposal for the UN will provide new opportunities for underrepresented countries, such as India and Brazil.
According to Engin Ozer, the BRICS and the Non-Aligned Movement represent the interests of more than half of the world’s population. Therefore, it is natural that they seek to create their own institutions in their regions to counter interference from extra-regional powers, especially in Eurasia and Africa.
In conclusion he said: “A good example here is the European Union using its own rules to condemn countries that are not part of the union. “BRICS is now working to develop a new currency to counter foreign financial transactions in the economies of member countries.”
According to him, in hybrid wars of the 21st century, financial and information operations are usually more important than military ones. “Right now, the BRICS countries are trying to create the impression of economic unity, but Putin’s call can be seen as a kind of manifesto. Perhaps in the near future this organization will offer the world a powerful alternative, forming a certain political identity.” – summarized.
It should be noted that Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry, proposed starting a dialogue with everyone who could participate in the new security system in Eurasia.
The Russian leader believes that the potential of the BRICS will allow this organization to become one of the key institutions that will regulate the multipolar world order.
