The grain harvest in the Stavropol region will be protected from hail damage with additional financial assistance, regional governor Vladimir Vladimirov announced at a working meeting on June 17.
Cereals have already been harvested in the region on an area of 9 thousand hectares, with a gross harvest of 28.8 thousand tons, a figure higher than last year. This year it is planned to harvest 2.4 million hectares.
However, heavy rain and hail in some districts caused damage to crops, making it necessary to increase their protection against natural disasters. In this sense, the regional governor commissioned the Ministry of Agriculture to review hail protection contracts and provide financing from the regional reserve fund.
“It is necessary to extend the period of protection of the region against hail. The regional reserve fund will allocate funds. The main thing is that the region is prepared to defend itself from the elements.””, emphasized the head of the region.
