The press service of the Ministry of Ecology, Nature Management and Forestry of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) reported that a citizen who communicates to the police or control and supervision authorities reliable information about the person responsible for starting a forest fire receives a monetary reward in the amount of 10 thousand rubles. Rewards for identifying several people responsible for starting a forest fire cannot exceed 50 thousand rubles.
Monetary compensation to the citizen will be paid following a court ruling or a decision of the bodies exercising federal state fire supervision and federal state forest supervision (forest protection).
Recall that 2021 has become the most catastrophic year in terms of fires for Russian forests since 2001. In Yakutia alone, the total area of forest fires amounted to about 8.5 million hectares or 85 thousand square kilometers. This is the largest loss due to forest fires in Russia in recent decades.
