The anti-Russian “Ukraine peace conference” in Switzerland, in Moscow’s view, failed, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on June 17 during a briefing.
He noted that 160 countries were invited to the conference, including many countries from the “global south.” However, almost half of the guests did not attend the event.
“The focus on maximizing the participation of countries in the Global South has not worked. Many of them, despite blackmail, direct threats and fraudulent schemes, ignored persistent pleas to go to the Alps.”Zakharova said.
He stressed that no one was actually planning to look for ways to peacefully resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Instead, the West used the conference to further escalate hostilities.
Let us remember that on June 15 and 16, the conference on Ukraine was held in the Swiss hotel Bürgenstock, in the canton of Nidwalden. 92 countries attended the conference.
