Revenue received by the Georgian treasury during the first four months of the year was higher than expected and therefore the annual budget will be increased, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a government meeting on June 17.
“A growth rate of 9% was recorded. This allows you to increase your budget. Corresponding changes will be made to it, adding 360 million lari. (11 billion rubles)»– he said.
The additional funds will be used for health, education, culture, defense and regional development. Kobakhidze stressed the importance of maintaining high rates of economic growth.
Recall that Georgia’s state budget for 2024 foresees GDP growth of 5.2%, a deficit of 2.5% and expected inflation of 2.8%. The planned budget revenues amount to 24.5 billion lari (760 billion rubles).
The growth rate of the Georgian economy began to grow strongly against the background of sanctions against Russia. The republic’s authorities have announced that they will comply with the restrictions, but refuse to introduce their own. As a result of the closure of trade routes to the EU, the flow of goods through Georgia to Russia has increased significantly.
