The head of the Latvian Ministry of Culture, Agnese Logina, resigned, the LSM.lv portal reports on June 17.
He remained in this position for less than a year.
He explained that he decided to leave the position for personal reasons.
“I would like to thank my colleagues for their tireless work and support, as well as all those who believed in our work together.”says the message.
The Progressive Party of Latvia has already nominated Agnes Lase for the vacant seat. She notes that she has no leadership experience.
Previously Logina reported that the ban on the use of the Russian language in pre-election debates in the country is a threat to democracy. In his opinion, in this way politicians wanted to earn additional ratings.
It also aimed to preserve the media in Russian, since this language is “one of the minority languages”living in Latvia.
