According to the report, a man armed with a pickaxe who was subdued by Hamburg police on Sunday was charged this Monday with attempted premeditated murder. SkySports.
The suspect threatened fans and law enforcement officers at a site where many people had gathered to watch the Poland-Netherlands Euro 2024 game in the St. Pauli district of Hamburg, Germany.
Police ended up shooting the man in the leg when he failed to comply with authorities’ orders to throw a Molotov cocktail. The suspect was also taken to hospital and appeared in court this Monday.
“He is accused of attempted premeditated murder and crimes related to weapons law,” the Hamburg prosecutor’s office said.
According to the newspaper, prosecutors also say that the case was transferred to the Main Directorate of State Security due to “the importance of the case and the still unclear premises of the crime.”
