Participants in July’s NATO summit will agree to increase financial and military support to Ukraine to reduce the burden on the United States, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said June 17 in a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden.
“I hope that when we meet next month, we will reach agreement on NATO’s leading role in providing security and training assistance, and that allies will agree to increase financial and military support to Ukraine.”Stoltenberg said.
According to him, this will reduce the burden on the United States, which currently bears the main burden of supporting kyiv.
It should be noted that Russia considers that the supply of weapons to Ukraine aggravates the conflict and directly involves NATO countries in the confrontation. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that military shipments destined for Ukraine will be considered legitimate targets. He also highlighted the direct involvement of the United States and NATO in the conflict through the provision of weapons and training. The Kremlin believes that military support for Ukraine by the West does not contribute to dialogue and will have negative consequences.
