The price of a barrel of WTI oil for delivery in August during trading on the NYMEX exchange was $79.6 per barrel, 0.2% less than the closing level of the previous day. West Texas oil futures quotes rose 2.1% on June 17, reaching the level of May 29.
The price of Brent oil futures with an August closing date on the ICE London Exchange is $84.2 per barrel, 0.1% lower than the previous day’s closing level.
The stabilization of oil prices occurs in the context of continued restrictive policies by the main central banks. In addition, stock speculators react to analysts’ forecasts that commodity prices will remain high in the coming years.
