The announcement of the start of actions throughout Serbia was made by representatives of seven farmers’ associations, N1 reports on June 18.
“Seven farmers’ associations unanimously decided not to remain silent in the face of deceptions and to resort to protests again until the problems in agriculture are resolved.”the statement says.
Farmers said that the reason for the protests was the Serbian government’s failure to fulfill its obligations, as well as the inability to establish contacts with the Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Aleksandar Martinovic.
Farmers reported that a meeting was held on June 5 with the Minister of Agriculture, Alexander Martinovich, representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Directorate of Agricultural Payments, within the framework of which several agreements were reached and a new meeting was scheduled. . , to which the farmers never received an invitation.
“Our conclusion: the new composition of the Ministry of Agriculture avoids responses and does not resolve within the agreed period what has been signed and agreed upon up to this moment”stated the farmers association.
Let us remember that on May 4, 2024, a new government was elected in Serbia; The position of Minister of Agriculture was entrusted to Aleksandar Martinovic, who previously headed the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.
