The Russian leader Vladimir Putin and his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-un They met this Tuesday in North Koreafor the first time in 24 years, to try to close agreements on military and commercial matters.
Upon arrival in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, Putin was received by Kim himself at the airport, in gratitude for this trip at the highest diplomatic level. However, it will be this Wednesday when both will hold the most relevant meetings.
This state visit, which has generated concern in South Korea and the West, could end with the signing of a new basic treaty of bilateral relations.
The agreement would replace those signed previously, in 1961, 2000 and 2001, forging between both parties a new strategic alliance in military and commercial matters.

Pyongyang and Moscow have gradually increased their diplomatic and security relations, especially as tensions rise and in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
This is Putin’s first visit to North Korea. from which he made as soon as he arrived at the Kremlin in the year 2000, when he governed Kim Jong-ilfather of the current North Korean leader.
